What have I been up to lately?
Fellow readers,
I know its been two months already and I haven’t posted anything on my blog. But hey, who cares. Anyways, I am still alive, living and breathing. Well, nothings changed for me. If you happen to meet/talk with me last couple of months ago or even longer than that, I am basically still the “same” and I will always be the ychian you know. You understand what I mean.
Moving on…these past few weeks have been mind bothering, had to make an important decision on my own which I don’t think anyone would like to be in my position at that moment. But I am glad I have the answer. There’s no turning back, I hope my instinct serves me right. So having said all that. My final decision was to resign from my current company and accept a job offer. Yes, I am making a career move. Honestly speaking there’s noting wrong with my current employment. I can say that I am inside the comfort zone (well, you can say I am a easy to please person). My relationship with the upper management has always been great. Its a 9-6 job which I believe many people would dream of. Oh yeah, even thought it says its 9 but usually I don’t reach there at 9. I would normally reach there before 9:30…which is around 9:25..yeah… 5 mins doesn’t make much of a difference. I know you might say what does your boss have to say about coming in late. I guess this is the work culture over here. Nothing much the boss can do about it. They themselves are late sometimes (I know because they are bosses). Well, to me as long as we deliver the results that you expect, I don’t think coming in early to work would increase our work efficiency. No one is being paid overtime here. So when the clock hits 6. Most people would be packing their stuff and rush out of the office as quick as they can.. but as for me…I would leave late because I came in late. The work place is not that far away from my house, and I dont have to pass though any toll at all. Without beating the jam I can reach there within 5 mins and the worst would be 20 mins max. So seriously, I save up a lot on my patrol every month. Parking is a minor issue, I normally would park at the neighborhood area which I pay nothing besides having to look at a few black faces from the people staying. I sincerely apologize it over here but doubt you would found out about my blog. Sorry for ruining your nice green grass or flowers. I promise they will grow back when I start my new job
. So all of this adds up to be a pretty decent job, I think.
For my new job. Its a totally different story. The office is inside the golden triangle of KL city. I can imagine that I have to wake up early everyday no matter what to beat the jam. Getting there could take me at least half an hour if traffic is clear. No, the place is not accessible by any public transport of any sort which means I have to drive no matter what. Paying for the patrol alone would make a hole in my wallet. Another thing would be the parking. I was told there isn’t anymore cheap monthly parking lot in the office building, there’s only a few expensive one which cost around Rm200 per month which I don’t think that is an option. All that is left is an open area parking lot next to the building which isn’t cheap either. I know you probably see lots of inconvenient for me to go to work everyday. But all those things does not actually stop me from taking the offer. The actual reason I like about the new job is that it provides me an greater exposure to large scale website which my current employment can’t offer. After working on multiple projects for the past two years I admit that all the business process/logic are quite interesting at the start. But as times goes on, I felt like I need to concentrate more on a certain process and try to make the best out of it. Another reason would be that my new company isn’t small. It has branches across Asia’s major cities and Malaysia is one of them. Their headquarter is located at Hong Kong. So I think its quite interesting. One lesson which I learned from outsourcing company like the one I am currently in right now is that all projects are being tagged strictly to money. If the client doesn’t have pay us the money for extra or basic features for the application, we wont bother spending time on it. But I mean that’s the nature of the business, if client doesn’t pay us, where is my month pay check going to come from, rite?
Anyway, promise will update again when I started work on my new company. So stay tune.
